Functional Neurology

What is Functional Neurology?

Functional Neurology involves direct rehabilitation of the body’s most vital organ: the brain.  The goal of this technique is to restore and optimize neurological function by facilitating the brain’s natural capacity for growth and change.  This growth and change is known as Neuroplasticity.  Functional Neurology provides an individualized treatment plan for the specific areas of the brain an individual may be struggling with.  No two brains are the same, therefore, no two treatments should be the same.  The brain allows you to interact and process your environment around you in an appropriate manner.  When the brain does misinterpret that information, we end up with pain, dizziness, depression, anxiety, irregular movement patterns causing tightness, shakiness, instability, paralysis, etc.

While everyone would benefit from optimizing brain function, specific conditions and those that benefit from functional neurology care include, but not limited to: Post-concussion syndrome, migraines, ADD/ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Dyslexia, Stroke, Vertigo, TBI, Parkinson’s Disease, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Age-related cognitive decline, athletes (all levels), developing children, students (all levels), and the elderly.  Dr. Forrester has had extensive training and experience in Functional Neurology and is now with us in Albany.
